About the Artist

Kristin Våge is an emerging Norwegian expressionist artist whose work explores the space between abstraction and figuration.

Kristin's paintings treat emotion as a landscape, capturing the quiet tension between presence, absence, control and release. Her work invites the viewer into an atmosphere of ambiguity and reflection, where movement and stillness co-exist.

Born and raised in Norway, Kristin has travelled widely, immersing herself in diverse cultures — including extended stays in Russia, Germany, the USA, and Asia — and has gained a broader perspective and discovered a passion for the abstract style of painting.

Våge's process is intuitive and exploratory, defined by layered surfaces, gestural mark-making, and a sensitive use of colour and shade that bridges portraiture and expressionism.

Kristin now lives along the fjords outside of Bergen, enjoying an astounding view of earth, water and sky from the window of her studio. Music is an important element of her life and work, whether a powerful Chopin piece or a stimulating blues-rock classic. For a break, she enjoys riding her vintage motorcycle on the steep mountain roads of Norway.

Kristin's work has attracted increasing attention through local exhibitions and a growing circle of collectors and admirers.

"...lend your ears to music, open your eyes to painting,

and...stop thinking! Just ask yourself whether the work

has enabled you to "walk about" into a hitherto

unknown world. If the answer is yes, what more do you want?"

Wassily Kandinsky
